Spudookies, The Original Potato Chip Cookies

The Original Potato Chip Cookie with Walnuts

Tradition. It all starts with tradition.

My name is Lisa. I was raised in a suburb of Chicago and now I live in Los Angeles. Both cities are meccas for culture, history, and diversity of food and people. And like these two cities, I am a mash-up of cultures and experiences. I hope by bringing my family recipe to you, together we start a new tradition to pass along to your family and friends for years to come.

I always loved being in the kitchen with my grandma and mom. No matter what other options presented themselves, from age 5 and on, I would choose cooking, baking, prepping, etc. if Mom or Grandma were in the kitchen cooking. To me, the secrets of life and family could be heard if you listened closely to what was said in the kitchen.

With imagination and a lot of testing, I’ve re-created my grandmother’s potato chip cookie recipe but a with a twist of today’s loved “mix ins” and some surprise flavor pairings.

In the summer of 2007, I was lucky enough to get Spudookies sold at the Daley Plaza Farmers Market in Chicago. From May – October, I greeted Chicagoans at the Bulldog Bakery stand where we sold my Spudookies, the Original Potato Chip Cookies, along with Bulldog Bakery’s many sweets and baked goods. Thanks to my friend Patrick, owner of Bulldog Bakery, who helped make this happen for me each and every week.

It’s proven, once you taste these Spudookies potato chip cookies, you just won’t stop at one. It’s unique. It’s velvety. It’s crunchy. It’s sweet. It’s salty. It’s SPUDOOKIES. And, with different yum-yums (my definition of tasty ingredients) added into the original cookie batter, you should never get bored of these delicious cookies.

I want to let the world know that potato chips are not just for dipping any more!

Here are a few varieties I can cook up for ya! But if you want a special combo, let me know…I’m open to mash-up ideas!
